10,000 pounds of fresh food will be given away in Gulfport Wednesday.
The giveaway, hosted by Helping Hands Food Program and Hands On Mississippi, will be held at the Orange Grove Community Center located at 14416 Dedeaux Road.
Bags of food will be handed out from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. or until the food runs out. Organizers say this will be a first come first serve program.
The only stipulation to receive the free food is you must be a resident of Harrison County.
Typical foods available include:
fruits & vegetables
breads & pastries
canned/dry goods
nonalcoholic beverages
dairy products
There will be another food giveaway Saturday in Biloxi. Distribution of the bags of food will begin at 2 p.m. at Mercy Cross Gym in Biloxi. That address is 390 Crusader Drive.
