Gulfport trial set in March for man accused of downloading child pornography ... - SunHerald

GULFPORT -- The trial of a man accused of downloading child pornography in Harrison County has been moved to the court calender beginning March 2, court records show.

John Daniel Wanzo, 25, has pleaded not guilty to a federal child pornography charge in the case.

A grand jury indicted Wanzo on Oct. 7. He first appeared in federal court in Jacksonville, Fla., before his case was transferred to Gulfport.

Magistrate Judge John Gargiulo later allowed Wanzo to be released to his father's custody on an unsecured $25,000 bond. A condition of the release was that Wanzo live with his father in Jacksonville under home confinement with electronic monitoring. He is also under orders from the judge to have no access to a computer or Internet-enabled cellphone and to stay away from minors, excluding his sister who lives with his father.

Wanzo is accused of downloading pornography of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct from on or about May 1, 2012, through May 31, 2012, in Harrison County. The indictment indicates the child pornography was downloaded onto a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer.

The indictment also includes a forfeiture order.
