GULFPORT, Mississippi — A Gulfport man will be sentenced Oct. 2 on charges he used the fake name for a business to get $23,541 in oil-spill recovery money.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1m10Tpl ) 40-year-old Brian Keith Lee pleaded guilty this week in federal court in Gulfport to one count of mail fraud when he received a check in April 2011.

He faces up to 20 years for mail fraud.

Prosecutors say Lee filed a claim showing a loss of income after the Deepwater Horizon oil-rig explosion in April 2010.

The indictment alleged Lee reported lost earnings from work for Gulf South Seafood in Biloxi and Long Beach. He provided W2 forms for 2009 and 2010 from JW Consulting LLC, which reportedly ran the business.

Prosecutors say the business doesn't exist.
