GULFPORT, Mississippi — Overnight storms flooded streets along the Mississippi coast. Afternoon storms brought a repeat while bringing rivers brim-full.
However, Harrison and Jackson county emergency officials say they don't have any reports of flooded buildings.
They say many roads in Biloxi, Gulfport, Moss Point and Pascagoula flooded overnight, and some flooded again in the afternoon.
Harrison County emergency director Rupert Lacy says the Tchoutacaboeuffa (SHOO-tuh-kuh-BUFF) River was at flood stage Tuesday evening and rising, but was not expected to cause any property damage. He says the Biloxi River was nearing flood stage.
Jackson County deputy emergency director Terry Jackson says the Pascagoula River remains below flood stage. The National Weather Service says that by Friday, it could be high enough at Graham Ferry to threaten lower elevated homes at Cumbest Bluff.
