GULFPORT, Mississippi — A Gulfport man has pleaded guilty to income tax evasion by under-reporting his income by $68,448.
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1di1saZ ) 51-year-old Jeffrey Jerome Isabell will be sentenced June 2.
The U.S. Attorney's Office charged him in February.
Isabell reported his taxable income for 2010 was $13,372 and he owed only $134 when his income actually was $81,820 and he owed $26,404, the charging document said.
Isabell, a contract worker for the Navy, prepared taxes as a side job.
His initial court appearance Wednesday was followed by arraignment. He waived the right to indictment and accepted a plea agreement.
U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden allowed him to remain free on an unsecured $25,000 bond pending sentencing.
